My heartbeat confides in the mist of conflicts
I see myself as a pawn in the world where humans controlled my destiny
I’ve lacked a sense of power
And life became a mental causality
Where my misfortunes were learnt and labelled as agitations
I am the reflection of my own reality
I try in the mist of climates of futility
To embrace my optimism
And not fixate on the deviance
Of the exclusion of normality
Life had suddenly drew a circle to shut me out
Heretic, rebelled
A thing to flout about but love and I had the wit to win
I’ve seen myself as a pawn in the world where life had no generosity
But I have let my mind to be enlarged to see an occasion
I am the reflection of my own reality
Look upon the blackness of our women
And be filled with the delight of it
Her blackness, a beacon among the insipid faces around her
Proudly she walks a sensuous black lily
Swaying in the wind
The daughter of Africa
Within her soft belly sleeps our children
Our woman wear her blackness like a queen
This daughter of Africa
